Rep. Ro Khanna (CA-17) issued the following statement on the Republican bill to repeal the Affordable Care Act:

"The Affordable Care Act provides more than 20 million people with health insurance and its protections allow fewer than 10 percent of the population to remain uninsured. However, congressional Republicans plan to halt the progress, including cancelling preventative services and consumer protections covered in the law, freezing Medicaid expansion for low and moderate income families and individuals, and defunding Planned Parenthood.

"The reality is that the health care tax credits Republicans are offering are not sufficient for millions of working families to afford decent insurance. Also, their plan will result in a rise in premiums for those with pre-existing conditions as healthy individuals opt out of the system. Ultimately, we need a single payer health care system and Medicare for all. That is the vision I will fight for during my time in Congress."
