Congressman Anthony G. Brown (MD-04) released the following statement after former FBI Director James Comey testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee:
"Former FBI Director James Comey's testimony exposed that President Trump repeatedly tried to influence the FBI's investigation into Michael Flynn's ties with Russia, and fired Mr. Comey for failing to bend to his wishes. The FBI must remain independent from the partisan and personal whims of any President, including President Trump. The FBI must be free to carry out its mission in the most effective way possible and follow the facts wherever they lead.
"In addition to special counsel Robert Mueller's work, Congress must be relentless in our effort to discover all of the facts related to Russian interference in US elections. Providing a full accounting to the American people of what happened is the important first step to prevent any country from interfering in our democracy again."
