Statement on Court Pausing EPA Methane Rules

Statement

Date: May 18, 2017
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Kevin Cramer issued the following statement after the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals today granted an indefinite pause, requested by the Trump Administration, for lawsuits challenging the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) methane emissions rule:
"Today's decision by the District Court marks another win for the families and businesses of North Dakota. The New Source Performance Standard rule that was finalized last year by the EPA was really an attempt by extreme environmentalists to harm the fossil fuel industry. The rule was completely unnecessary since oil companies are already in the business of capturing and selling methane, and we can all breathe another sigh of relief knowing that the Trump Administration continues to support the Bakken and our state by promoting a pro-energy agenda."
