Representative Ted Budd (R-NC) has cosponsored the Military Surviving Spouses Equity Act. This bipartisan legislation would end the widow's tax on military survivor benefits.
"The last place where people should experience sticker shock is with their loved ones' military benefits, but it's something that has happened to 3,519 military widows in our state. This bill is about keeping the promise that if you sacrifice for our country, the federal government will live up to its obligations to you and your family. Ending the military widow's tax will help us keep that promise, and I'm glad to be a supporter of the legislation.
