Ahead of the Energy & Commerce full committee markup being held today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (D-CA) introduced the MORE Act. The legislation would amend the FAST Act to allow technology companies to test autonomous vehicle systems in the United States.
"We have the opportunity to spur breakthroughs in autonomous vehicle technology," said Congresswoman Matsui. "This legislation levels the playing field so that innovators from all industries can compete. Ultimately, that benefits consumers, improves safety, and enhances our global competitiveness as we develop the technologies of tomorrow."
The MORE Act is a part of the broader autonomous vehicle legislative package being considered in the House Energy & Commerce Committee today. The package lays a roadmap for the safe testing and deployment of autonomous vehicles.
