Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (D-CA) issued the following statement after former FBI Director Robert Mueller III was appointed as special prosecutor:

"This is an important and long overdue step in what needs to be an ongoing and independent effort to investigate Trump-Russia ties. Former Director Mueller must have complete independence and the proper resources to carry out this investigation. As we move forward, Congress must continue to follow the facts."
