Congressman Duffy Supports VA Accountability And Whistleblower Protection Act

Congressman Sean Duffy (R-WI) today voted in support of the Department of Veterans Affairs Accountability and Whistleblower Protection Act, bipartisan legislation that would reform the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) by allowing the Secretary of the VA to dismiss poorly-performing employees and those who engage in misconduct, while ensuring important due process protections for whistleblowers. With real accountability standards in place, there can now be real change to fix the VA.

Specifically, the bill creates a new streamlined process to remove or discipline VA employees for poor performance or misconduct with a shortened timeline, while still protecting employees' due process rights, and would provide them the ability to appeal.

Expands protections for whistleblowers and prevents the VA from using removal authority if the employee has an open whistleblower case with the Office of Special Counsel.
