U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) met with Mexican Senators Héctor Yunes Landa and Miguel Ángel Chico Herrera to discuss issues facing the United States and Mexico in light of President Trump's anti-immigrant rhetoric and immigration orders. Senator Chico Herrera is the Chairman of the Legislative Labor and Social Welfare Committee in the Mexican Senate, and Senator Yunes Landa, Chairman of the Anti-Corruption and Citizen Participation Committee.
"It was an honor to meet Senators Yunes Landa and Chico Herrera to discuss how our two nations can better collaborate despite President Trump's divisive rhetoric and actions," said Senator Cortez Masto. "Besides sharing a common border, Mexico and the United States share a long history of cultural and economic exchange. As neighbors, our countries must work together in a productive manner that benefits our citizens on both sides of the border. I look forward to working with my counterparts in Mexico to ensure that Mexicans and Americans alike benefit from a close relationship between our countries."
