Dear Friend,
I hope you can take a moment to read the following article in the Daily Lobo: Heinrich plans to brighten young people's futures with clean energy legislation about a bill I introduced to better prepare New Mexico students and workers for the energy jobs of the future and increase the participation of women and minorities throughout the industry.
As New Mexico becomes a major producer and exporter of wind and solar energy, that will mean thousands of new jobs for rural communities across our state. The Energy Workforce for the 21st Century Act will help make sure our community colleges and universities are working closely with businesses and our national labs to prepare New Mexicans for jobs in emerging fields like clean energy, health care, biomedicine, and advanced technology manufacturing.
We need to give students the opportunity to learn the skills necessary to build their careers and start their families in New Mexico. Building a better education pipeline from early childhood all the way through college for high-skill jobs is the one sure way to turn our economy around. I won't stop fighting until every New Mexican who wants to work hard can find a job.
Sincerely,
MARTIN HEINRICH
United States Senator
