Menendez, Booker Announce Nearly $560K in Federal Funding to Protect NJ Firefighters

U.S. Senators Bob Menendez and Cory Booker today announced the awarding of a combined $556,292 in federal Assistance to Firefighter Grant (AFG) funding to improve safety and operations in local volunteer and professional fire departments across New Jersey. The AFG program is administered by the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

"Firefighters heroically put their lives on the line every day to protect us, and it is imperative that we provide them with the resources needed to help them safely perform their duties" said Sen. Menendez. "I will continue to fight each day to bring funds back to New Jersey, because safe firefighters means safe communities."

"The safety of our local communities is paramount, and no one understands this more than the brave men and women in New Jersey's firehouses," said Sen. Booker. "I fought for these federal investments in training and the latest equipment to not only help keep our families safe, but to ensure the safety of our first responders while letting them know they will never stand alone."
