Senate Unanimously Passes King-Backed Resolution Honoring Public Servants

U.S. Senator Angus King (I-Maine) today announced that the U.S. Senate has unanimously passed a resolution designating this week, May 7th to May 13th, 2017, as Public Service Recognition Week. Public Service Recognition Week honors the vital work of federal, state, county, and local government employees and members of the uniformed services across the nation.

"Public servants across all levels of government dedicate their careers to working on behalf the American people," Senator King said. "Whether it be the public school educators helping teach the next generation, the first responders protecting our communities, or the men and women of our armed forces serving at home and abroad to keep our nation safe, America's public servants work day in and day out to strengthen our democracy. During Public Service Recognition Week, may we all reflect on their critical contributions to our society.

For over thirty years, Public Service Recognition Week has been hosted by the Public Employees Roundtable to help honor federal, state, county and local government employees who are critical to running our communities.
