Capito Says No to CAFTA, Won't Protect West Virginia Jobs
7/28/2005
WASHINGTON, DC - (7/28) - Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) voted against the Central American Free Trade Agreement which was adopted by the U.S. House of Representatives late Wednesday evening by a vote of 217 to 215. Capito issued the following statement.
"I gave the bill a very thorough review and just could not find how it would protect jobs in West Virginia," noted Capito. "Keeping West Virginians on the job is the first thing we need to do to ensure our state's economy grows. This agreement may be good for other states but does not make sense for West Virginia."
