Wilson Statement on Governor Perry as Secretary of Energy

Statement

Date: Dec. 14, 2016

Congressman Joe Wilson (SC-02) issued the following statement after Governor Rick Perry was offered the position of Secretary of Energy by President-elect Donald Trump:

"America is fortunate that President-elect Donald Trump intends to nominate former Governor Rick Perry to serve as Secretary of Energy. I look forward to working with him in the coming months to discuss the Savannah River Site and other energy priorities of South Carolina's Second Congressional District. I was grateful to serve in the Reagan Administration as Department of Energy, Deputy Legal Counsel with Secretary Jim Edwards. I know Governor Perry's background of positive growth will create jobs."

"With Governor Perry, I am confident we can accomplish an "all of the above' energy policy-- one that includes finishing Yucca Mountain, supporting SRS, completing MOX, building the Keystone Pipeline which produces jobs at Michelin of Lexington, and advancing energy independence."
