Carter Supports President Trump's Border Security, Immigration Executive Orders Signed Today

Today, Rep. John R. Carter (R-TX-31) released the following statement in regards to President Trump's executive orders on Enhancing Public Safety in the Interior of the United States, and Border Security and Immigration Enforcement Improvements.

"I applaud President Trump's actions today to better secure our border and enhance our national security. Texas bore the brunt of President Obama's failed immigration policies and utter refusal to enforce our nation's laws. From inside the beltway, the dangerous effects of these policies may not be clear, but in Texas we see the damage every day. We see it in our jails, our emergency rooms, and in our public coffers."

"I have fought against the previous Administration for eight years to end catch and release, remove criminal aliens to their home countries, defund sanctuary cities, secure our border, and better screen refugees coming to the United States. As Chairman of the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, I am very happy to see President Trump acting to finally enforce our laws, and I look forward to partnering with him to secure our borders and protect our communities."
