Lewis Gains Seat on Education and Workforce Committee

Congressman Jason Lewis (MN-02) issued the following statement after being named to the Education & Workforce Committee:

"I'm excited to build on the significant work done by Chairman John Kline and continue his service for our district on the Education and Workforce Committee. Working alongside Chairwoman Foxx, our committee will make life easier for the hardworking men and women of the 2nd district, and return education decisions to parents, teachers and the students themselves."

Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (NC-05) welcomed Rep. Lewis to the committee, saying:

"As a third-generation business owner, Jason Lewis experienced first-hand many of the same challenges and difficult decisions small businesses currently face. His work in the private sector and commitment to fiscal responsibility provide working families a strong advocate here in Washington and on this committee. I look forward to working with Congressman Lewis as we advance commonsense solutions to improve the economy and strengthen our nation's workforce."

Background: The Education and Workforce Committee was established in 1867 with jurisdiction over labor and educational issues. Previously chaired by Minnesota-02's own John Kline, the committee does important work in areas including early childhood through secondary education, higher education, workforce protection, health and pensions.
