Today, U.S. Representative Tim Walz (MN-01) released the following statement concerning House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes:

"At the very least, it appears Chairman Nunes' ability to independently investigate Russia's attack on our democracy is compromised. As the credibility of any congressional investigation relies on a commitment to bipartisanship and the independence of those conducting it, I call on Chairman Nunes to immediately recuse himself from the Committee's Russia investigation.

"Furthermore, to restore the American people's faith in our electoral process and ensure the full truth of Putin's assault on our sovereignty is uncovered and made public, I renew my call for an independent, nonpartisan commission to investigate the Putin-Russia attack on the United States of America, including but not limited to any relevant ties between Russia and U.S. persons."

Rep. Walz is a cosponsor of the Protecting Our Democracy Act (H.R. 356), a bill to establish a National Commission on Foreign Interference in the 2016 Election.
