Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-07) has cosponsored legislation by Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Greg Walden (OR-02) to preserve health care access and protections for individuals with pre-existing conditions. H.R. 1121, the Pre-Existing Conditions Protection Act, aims to reaffirm guaranteed health care access, ensure that enrollees cannot have benefits excluded from a plan due to a pre-existing condition, and that patients will not pay more based on their health care status.

"We are taking a thoughtful, step-by-step approach to deliver health care solutions that lower costs, increase choices, and give greater control to Michigan families and small businesses," said Walberg. "As we work to repair our broken health care system, one important component is maintaining protections for patients with pre-existing conditions. This bill will safeguard patients from being treated unfairly and provide peace of mind to families that they will not be left behind."
