Johnson Highlights Cybersecurity Bill on Fox News

In an appearance on Fox News' America's Newsroom Thursday, U.S. Senator Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, spoke about the Protecting our Ability To Counter Hacking (PATCH) Act, bipartisan legislation that adds transparency and accountability to the U.S. government process for retaining or disclosing vulnerabilities in technology products, services, applications, and systems.

"When our agencies find vulnerabilities in software, some of those vulnerabilities we want to keep so we have the best offensive cyberattack capability in the world. I think that's important. But at the same time we want to make sure that those companies are able to patch that software so that other computers don't remain vulnerable. So, it's a balance."

"There is already a process in place. We're going to make it a more transparent process and we're going make sure that we really do balance the national security with the protection of everybody's computers."
