Barrasso Statement on Presidential Decision to Review Emission Standards

Today, U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-WY), chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works (EPW), released the following statement on President Trump's announcement on vehicle emission standards. The decision is to review the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Mid-Term Evaluation determination of the greenhouse gas emissions standards for automotive vehicles, which was finalized January 12, 2017.

"The EPA, under President Obama, rushed to finalize a determination on vehicle emission standards days before leaving office," said Barrasso. "This upended a carefully negotiated process meant to ensure environmental standards are achievable and that cars remain affordable for American families. President Trump's decision to review the EPA's midnight determination is a commonsense move that gets the process back on track.
