Tonight, Congressman Darin LaHood attended President Trump's address to a joint session of Congress. He released the following statement in response to the address:
"Tonight, I believe the President delivered a bold, optimistic, and serious speech, outlining his proposals to move our country forward in a united fashion and I believe the 18th District can benefit greatly on a number of the details the President defined tonight. Particularly, I am excited about his initiatives towards improving our nation's infrastructure, by investing one trillion dollars to create thousands of jobs and opportunities, while improving our roads, bridges, and waterways. Additionally, I agreed with the proposals the President outlined in repealing and replacing Obamacare, by providing more competition, fighting high drug costs, not discriminating against pre-existing conditions, and creating more flexibility in Medicaid. Overall, I am hopeful after hearing the President's ideas tonight. I look forward to our work ahead.
Finally, I was thankful for the recognition he gave our hometown American hero--Senior Chief William "Ryan" Owens--and his wife, Carryn Owens. We are indebted to his sacrifice and as the President stated tonight, "We will never forget Ryan.'"
