Congressman Jim Banks (IN-03) today made the following statement regarding his vote in favor of H.R. 1644, the Korea Interdiction and Modernization of Sanctions Act, which passed the House yesterday:

"North Korea's disastrous ambitions must be stopped, period. While I remain concerned that these new sanctions may not be effective in deterring Kim Jong-un's progress toward a nuclear weapon, it is clear that the status quo is not sustainable. It is time to do everything in our power to stop Kim Jong-un's destructive agenda, and I am proud to stand with a majority of my House colleagues in taking this step."
