Banks: Latest Data Highlight Need for Permanent Repeal of Medical Device Tax

Statement

Date: Feb. 8, 2017
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Jim Banks (IN-03) today issued the following statement regarding data recently released by the Commerce Department revealing that the medical technology industry lost nearly 29,000 jobs from 2012 to 2015:

"This is just more evidence that the medical device tax should be permanently repealed. This misguided tax stifled innovation and killed jobs when it was in effect. There is bipartisan agreement that it must not be reinstated, and passing a permanent repeal is one of my top legislative priorities for this year."
