The subcommittee will come to order.

Today we welcome our Inspectors General -- the Honorable Calvin Scovel from the Department of Transportation, and the Honorable David Montoya from the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The oversight work you do for our Committee is vital to ensure tax dollars are being well spent, and that those dollars go as far as possible to meet our nation's transportation and housing needs. We rely on your good work to ensure that waste, fraud, and abuse in our agencies is not tolerated.

When we have concerns regarding the management and effectiveness within both Departments, we look to your offices for the much needed oversight and guidance you provide through various audits and investigations. You help us get these agencies back on track, and ensure they are working as efficiently and effectively as possible.
