Reps. Schneider and Schakowsky Host Successful Hiring Event in Des Plaines

U.S. Representatives Brad Schneider (IL-10) and Jan Schakowsky (IL-09) hosted a hiring event on Thursday featuring 64 local employers with a total of more than 400 current job openings, including CVS Health, UPS, Verizon Wireless, Walgreens and more. A full list of participating businesses is available online.

More than 500 area residents attended the event at Oakton Community College's Des Plaines campus to learn about employment opportunities and to interview.

The fair, which was hosted with assistance from the Illinois Department of Employment Security, National Able, and Oakton Community College also featured workshop sessions with tips and strategies on networking, job searching, and interviewing.

Following the hiring event, Rep. Schneider launched his "Brad At Your Business" series, to visit local businesses and hear from employees. The first visit was the Home Depot in Niles, where Rep. Schneider learned more about the company's veterans hiring program. Nationally, Home Depot has hired more than 55,000 veterans since 2012.
