Senator Hassan released the following statement after the confirmation of Dr. Ben Carson to lead the Department of Housing and Urban Development:

"I was grateful for the opportunity to meet with Dr. Carson and I appreciated his interest in serving communities across America in this position. However, despite Dr. Carson's interest in public service, I do not believe he has the qualifications necessary to serve as the Secretary for Housing and Urban Development, which is why I did not support his confirmation."
