Today, Senator Maggie Hassan released the following statement on her opposition to Rick Perry's nomination to serve as Secretary of Energy:

"From denying climate science to admitting that he was unaware of the Department of Energy's critical role in maintaining America's nuclear arsenal -- not to mention his previous desire to eliminate the Department entirely -- Governor Rick Perry has demonstrated that he is unfit to lead the Department of Energy. Now more than ever, we need a Secretary of Energy who will work to combat climate change and build a cleaner, more affordable energy future for our people and businesses, and it's clear Rick Perry would not be that leader."
