Shaheen Statement Following Her Meeting with Gov. Nikki Haley, Nominee for U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations

U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, released the following statement after her meeting today with South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, President-elect Donald Trump's nominee to serve as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations (UN):

"My meeting with Gov. Haley was a valuable opportunity to discuss some of the pressing global issues that she will face at the United Nations if confirmed by the Senate--reforming peacekeeping, combatting Russian aggression, and managing relations with China," said Senator Shaheen. "Gov. Haley and I discussed how she would approach representing the U.S. on behalf of the next Administration, and I stressed the importance of skilled U.S. leadership at the UN to address these and other challenges. I look forward to tomorrow's public hearing to hear more from Gov. Haley on her goals for the job and her position on issues critical to U.S. peace and security. I am confident the global community will be paying attention to learn more about the next Administration's priorities."
