U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) released the following statement on President Trump's nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court:

"The independence of the Supreme Court is of utmost importance," said Shaheen. "Judge Gorsuch must demonstrate that he will rule independently of political influence or pressure, and defend the Constitution. I will thoroughly review Gorsuch's record and his testimony during the nomination process. However, I will not support any candidate who intends to turn back the clock on civil rights, including women's reproductive rights and LGBT equality."
