U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) joined Senators Bill Cassidy (R-La.) and Al Franken (D-Minn.) in sending a bipartisan letter to Senators Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) and Patty Murray (D-Wash.), the chairman and ranking member of the Senate Committee on Health Education, Labor and Pensions, requesting a committee hearing to address the important issues surrounding drug spending.
Senators Susan Collins (R-Maine), Michael Enzi (R-Wyo.), Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.), Bernie Sanders (D-Vt.) and Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) also coauthored the letter.
"Going forward, we need a comprehensive approach to identify trends related to growing drug spending, bring down overall health care costs, improve and reward quality, and promote innovation," the senators wrote.
