Capito Votes to Confirm Scott Gottlieb for FDA Commissioner

U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) issued the following statement today after voting to confirm Scott Gottlieb as commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA):

"After meeting with Dr. Goettlieb during the confirmation process, I am confident he will be a true ally in efforts to address some of the most pressing issues facing West Virginia. He understands the urgent need to combat the country's opioid epidemic and is ready to join us in that fight. I also look forward to working with him to help ensure West Virginians have access to medications and treatments they need at costs they can afford."
