Capito Co-sponsors Back the Blue Act During National Police Week

U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) co-sponsored the Back the Blue Act of 2017, which would increase the penalties for criminals who intentionally target law enforcement officers and provide new tools for officers to protect themselves.

"West Virginia's law enforcement officers put their lives at risk every day to keep our communities safe," Senator Capito said. "In return, we must do everything possible to make sure these men and women are able to carry out their work safely. This bill will do just that by implementing stricter punishments for those intentionally targeting our law enforcement personnel."
