Today, Congressman Darren Soto (FL-09) released the following statement:

"I am glad to see that the Governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Roselló, has moved forward to protect the interests of the 3.5 million American citizens living on the Island by seeking relief under Title III of PROMESA," Congressman Darren Soto said.

"This is a step in the right direction. We have a financial crisis that is suffocating the people - working class families, students, everyone. The Island is losing a doctor everyday while fighting Zika, and facing a 12.4 percent unemployment rate, school closings and other merciless austerity measures. And this will get worse if we don't act. I will support all actions Congress can take to guarantee fair treatment for the people of Puerto Rico, and give them the tools to build a better future."
