U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb) today released the following statement after the Senate's vote on the government spending bill. Fischer voted against the bill, which passed the Senate by a vote of 79 to 18.
"I appreciate the good faith efforts of members to come to an agreement on government spending. While I'm encouraged to see more resources go toward our national defense, I remain concerned this bill is an ineffective way of prioritizing the spending of taxpayer dollars. That's why I voted against past spending measures, including an appropriations bill that is incorporated in this agreement. Moreover, I am disappointed to see, once again, a lack of support for domestic renewable fuels that will strengthen our nation's energy diversity. I will continue to fight for more reasonable government spending and champion priorities for Nebraska's families and communities."
