House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement after Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced he will recuse himself only from investigations into the Trump campaign:

"It is insufficient for Attorney General Sessions to recuse himself from any matters concerning the presidential campaign. He must resign. His actions have cast a dark cloud of doubt over the department he now leads and underscore the need for Congress to establish a bipartisan, independent commission to investigate Russia's meddling in our democracy. His defensive comments today and Republican inaction to hold this Administration accountable ought to concern every American."
