Bill Sails Through House; Senate Approval Imminent
Washington, D.C. - U.S. Third District Congressman Frank Lucas voted today for the final version of legislation to create a comprehensive U.S. energy policy, to increase American energy independence and promote energy production and conservation for the future.
"This country has gone too long without a clear and comprehensive policy on meeting our future energy needs," Lucas said. "This bill will help stabilize prices for Oklahoma consumers, and increase production for our Oklahoma energy production - whether it be our oil and gas, or renewables such as wind or biodiesel."
Lucas was a member of the Energy Bill Conference Committee as a part of the group of House and Senate members who worked on the bill's final version. The conference committee works out the differences in the two bills to create an identical bill both bodies can pass and send to the President for his signature. Lucas signed his approval of the conference bill on Tuesday.
