The Kansas Farm Bureau has endorsed State Treasurer Ron Estes to represent the Kansas 4th Congressional District, the Estes campaign announced Tuesday, coinciding with National Ag Day.

Kansas Farm Bureau is the state's largest grassroots agriculture advocacy organization, with a chapter in each of Kansas' 105 counties. The counties in the Kansas 4th Congressional District voted overwhelmingly to endorse Ron Estes in the April 11th special election.

"With Ron's background, education, public service and industry experience, our county members were convinced he is the one to lead the 4th Congressional District in Kansas," Rich Felts, Kansas Farm Bureau president said.

Estes grew up on a family farm in Osage County, Kansas, where his mother, Lou, still resides.

"I'm so honored and humbled to have the support of the Kansas farmers," Estes said. "In Congress, I will work to get government regulation off their backs so they can do what they do best--feeding America and the world."

Tuesday is National Ag Day, dedicated to increasing public awareness of agriculture's vital role in society.

After earning degrees in civil engineering and business administration, Estes worked in the aerospace, oil and gas, and manufacturing industries, and was twice elected as Sedgwick County Treasurer. He was elected Kansas State Treasurer in 2010 and was reelected in 2014.
