Rep. Lou Correa Stands in Support of Israel

Issues: Foreign Affairs

Today, Congressman Lou Correa (CA-46) joined with 341 of his colleagues in support of Israel and the promise of sustainable peace between Israelis and Palestinians by opposing United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334, which attempts to impose a solution on the Israeli and Palestinian people, rather than supporting bilateral negotiations.

Congressman Correa said:

"As a longtime ally of Israel, I am honored to co-sponsor H. Res. 11 as my first official stance as a Member of Congress. The UN Resolution sets a dangerous precedent and threatens to undermine the prospects of a peaceful solution to the Israel-Palestinian conflict. A two-state solution is the only solution that ensures Israel's long term security and maintains its identity as a Jewish state."

H. Res. 11 is a bipartisan resolution put forward by fellow Orange County Congressman and Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee Ed Royce and Ranking Member Eliot Engel. The resolution expresses opposition to the United Nation Security Council resolution as an obstacle to the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, and unprecedentedly anti-Israel.
