Estes wins Republican nomination for Congress

State Treasurer Ron Estes secured the Republican nomination for the Fourth Congressional District Thursday evening.

He will now work to defeat the Democratic and Libertarian nominees in the April 11 special election.

"My campaign is ready to take our message of changing Washington D.C. throughout the district and earn the support of the voters," Treasurer Estes said. "I could not be more excited to use my experience engineering change to serve the people of South-Central Kansas."

Treasurer Estes thanked Fourth District Republican delegates for the support he received during the primary nominating process.

"This was a grassroots effort from the beginning, and I am so grateful for the groundswell of enthusiasm that made us successful," Treasurer Estes said. "Our message of changing Washington resonated strongly with the Republican delegates, and I have no doubts it will also resonate with the people of the Fourth District."

Treasurer Estes formerly served as Sedgwick County Treasurer before being elected State Treasurer in 2010, beating presumed Democratic nominee Dennis McKinney by 25 points in the Fourth District.
