Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) issued the following statement today regarding President Donald Trump's decision to advance construction of the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines:

"It is encouraging to have a President in Donald Trump who is focused on creating jobs, and today's action to green light the Keystone Pipeline is a great win for American workers and American energy security. Today marks the beginning of a new era in American energy policy. After eight years of an Obama White House that undermined American energy at every turn, our nation finally has a president who is focused on strengthening our energy security, growing our economy and creating American jobs. I applaud President Trump's action today, and I look forward to working with him to put Americans back to work and provide families with dependable, affordable American energy to power their lives."
