Fischer Statement on Transportation Secretary Nominee Elaine Chao

U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), chairman of the Senate Surface Transportation Subcommittee, released the following statement regarding President-elect Trump's decision to nominate Elaine Chao as Secretary of Transportation:

"Elaine Chao has a long record of success and accomplishment. As Secretary of Labor, and in a variety of leadership roles across government, non-profit, and the private sector, she has achieved results that have greatly improved the lives of families across this country. Her life story is the embodiment of the American dream, and I am grateful my friend Elaine is willing to continue her career of service to make the dreams of our fellow Americans a reality. As chairman of the Surface Transportation Subcommittee, I am excited to work with Secretary Chao to strengthen our nation's infrastructure for many years to come."
