Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D | Los Angeles County) issued the following statement in light of the announcement that alt-right movement leader and Breitbart News executive chairman Steve Bannon will be Chief Strategist for President-elect Trump's White House:
"President-elect Trump must withdraw the appointment of Steve Bannon as White House Chief Strategist. Bannon's Breitbart engaged in racist, anti-Semitic, xenophobic and homophobic hate speech. Now Bannon has a seat in the Oval Office and that is unacceptable. In the wake of a historically divisive campaign, President-elect Trump must demonstrate that he is the President for every American, not just the alt-right."
