Issue Position: Protecting America's Security at Home and Abroad

Issue Position

*Strongly believes that America should be strengthening our relationships with our allies, treating our enemies as our enemies, and never send our troops into harm's way unless they are sent with a clear plan and the resources necessary to win.

*Served on active duty for four years in the U.S. Army, as a Military Intelligence Officer, Federal Prosecutor, and Military Magistrate, among other duties. After being assigned as a paratrooper to the Army's elite 82nd Airborne Division, Lee was deployed to Iraq in the summer of 2006. He now serves as a Major in the Army Reserves.

*Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee, and Terrorism, Nonproliferation and Trade Subcommittee where Lee is a leading advocate on the need to identify and eliminate the threat of ISIS and other terror threats and correct a flawed Iran Nuclear Agreement.

*Introduced the Protect America Act (H.R. 4237) to prevent terrorists from purchasing firearms, while protecting the due process rights of Americans.

*Introduced the Counterterrorism Screening and Assistance Act (H.R. 4314), which passed the House with strong bipartisan support. This proposal improves international border security standards and helps fight the spread of infectious diseases, such as Zika.

*Currently working with House Judiciary and Homeland Security Committees to pass legislation to strengthen U.S. border security and interior enforcement, and stop the influx of Syrian refugees until they can be properly vetted.

*Opposes the closing of the detention center in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba (GITMO).
