Catherine Cortez Masto Discusses College Affordability with Students At Del Sol Academy of the Performing Arts

Former Nevada Attorney General and candidate for U.S. Senate Catherine Cortez Masto met with students at Del Sol Academy of the Performing Arts today in Las Vegas to discuss her commitment to making college more affordable and addressing student debt.

"Meeting with so many young, talented students today reaffirmed my commitment to ensuring they can all continue their education without the burden of a lifetime of debt," said Catherine Cortez Masto, former Nevada Attorney General and candidate for U.S. Senate. "As Nevada's next Senator, I will fight for commonsense measures to increase college access and affordability, like increasing grant and scholarship opportunities, and allowing students to refinance their student loans.

"My opponent, Congressman Heck wants to get rid of the Department of Education and voted to allow Wall Street to control federally-backed interest rates. He voted against expanding the Pell Grant Program and even voted to cut Pell Grants that 35,000 Nevada students rely on. Nevada college students need someone who will give them the opportunity to succeed without burying them under a mountain of debt."
