As Kelly Ayotte continues to experience the fallout from her craven political calculation on Donald Trump, including a new WMUR poll released yesterday showing her down 9 points, her corporate special interest backers are now in panic mode to save their favorite Senator. Ayotte's backers have now launched a new attack ad trying to mislead voters about Governor Hassan's record of supporting innovative businesses, of expanding opportunity for hard-working Granite State families, and of promoting fiscal responsibility -- including balancing the budget without a sales or income tax while cutting taxes for small businesses and protecting economic priorities.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, a group that supports protecting tax breaks for outsourcing American jobs while being backed by Big Tobacco, Big Oil and the Koch Brothers, was Ayotte's top special interest backer in 2010, and now they are back to try to prop up her reelection chances because she has repeatedly voted for the priorities of corporate special interests over those of Granite Staters since she went to Washington. The U.S. Chamber has faced increased criticism in recent years, and the Concord Monitor even called on the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce to "rescind its membership in the U.S. Chamber of Commerce."
"Kelly Ayotte's corporate special interest backers are in full panic mode, now that they realize that Granite Staters see clearly that everything Ayotte does is based on craven political calculations," said Maggie for NH Communications Director Aaron Jacobs. "From her calculated moves on Donald Trump to her record of voting with the special interests who are funding her campaign, dark money groups are trying to save Kelly Ayotte because they know she stands with their agenda."
