The Malloy Malaise Continues

Statement

"The news today that Connecticut has lost another 5,200 jobs is more evidence that the tax-and-spend policies of Gov. Malloy has put our state into an economic death spiral - one that his own budget director calls a Permanent Fiscal Crisis," said Clay Cope, Republican candidate for Congress in the 5 th District.

"And yet these failed and costly policies are supported 100 percent by Elizabeth Esty. In fact, she wants to expand this jobless economic malaise to the entire nation by supporting Hillary Clinton's proposal to increase Federal spending and taxes by an astronomical $1 trillion.

"With both Hartford and Washington DC bleeding red ink as far as the eye can see, taxing Connecticut families more, so the elite DC insiders can spend more, is just economic madness."

"And yet Elizabeth Esty remains steadfast and loyal -- to the six years of failure by Gov. Malloy, to the costly failure of Obamacare, and to the reckless tax-and-spend policies of Hillary Clinton.

"And to underscore just how oblivious Esty is to the needs of the families of the 5 th District, she is campaigning on her 'achievements' of the neatly-framed copies of bills and amendments she has authored -- which adorn her office in DC and which do nothing to ease the everyday burdens facing the people the 5th District."

"We desperately need a change in both leadership and direction. We need to Make Washing Work for us - and not to put us out of work."
