Esty Wants an 'E' After Her Name But She Deserves an 'F'

Statement

"Elizabeth Esty, who is running away from her failed record in DC, says she wants to abandon the D (for Democrat) after name," said Clay Cope, Republican candidate for Congress in the 5th District.

"Instead, she wants to use an E for Effective."

"That is just a bold-faced misrepresentation. Esty deserves an F for her job performance."

"She has already received grades far worse than F from the National Federation of Independent Business, the National Tax Limitation Committee, Citizens Against Government Waste, and the National Taxpayer Association."

"But the most damning evidence of her poor performance comes from a colleague in her own party right here in CT."

"William Cibes, a former Democratic candidate for Governor, issued commentary showing that Esty, and our entire seven-member Democratic delegation to Washington, has failed us for years."

The commentary shows that CT has received the lowest percentage of state revenue from Federal funds of all of the states in New England -- for more than 15 years! And in the most recent year CT was the third lowest in the nation."

"In fact, the Federal government has underfunded CT by a full five points below the national average for all states for years. And our representatives in DC have done nothing about it."

"Imagine where we would be today if CT had been funded by the Federal government at just at the national average? How much more money would have flowed into CT? How many more jobs created, how many more highways and bridges built or maintained or improved?"

"Instead, Esty and her DC colleagues have ignored our needs right here in the 5th District, and across our entire state, to pursue projects that do not improve our daily lives -- and simply allow the costly status quo to continue unchanged."

"It is time for our elected officials to represent us and not themselves and special interests. We must demand an end to our status as a donor state. It is time for us to change who we send to Washington to represent us."
