New Report on Student Loan Debt Shows Hassan Has Been MIA On College Affordability

Today's report showing that New Hampshire students carry the highest debt burden in the country is another reminder that Governor Hassan failed to show up when it counted and fight for students. A recent Politico report found that Governor Hassan only attended one University System of New Hampshire board of trustee meeting during her time as governor -- and the one meeting she "attended" was by phone for the sole purpose of taking credit for freezing tuition rates.

"While Governor Hassan pays lip service to college affordability, the fact is she has failed to show up to fight for students when it counted and skipped out on all but one university trustee meetings during her tenure," said spokeswoman Liz Johnson. "Hassan has had years to address our skyrocketing college tuition costs and heavy student loan debt burden, but she's been missing in action on this issue and is now trying to distract from her failed record with false attacks from Washington special interests that are propping up her struggling campaign."
