Today Governor Hassan released a new ad -- which is remarkably similar to her previous cookie-cutter ads -- in yet another attempt to rewrite her failed record as governor. While Hassan claims she will put New Hampshire families and small businesses first, she's done the exact opposite as governor -- consistently supporting tax and fee hikes, vetoing the budget over her opposition to tax relief that would encourage economic growth and job creation, and trying to cut funding for nursing homes by $7 million. In addition, while she claims she'll stand up to special interests in Washington, Hassan's DC backers are currently set to spend more than $20 million from now through Election Day to try to buy New Hampshire's Senate seat.
"Governor Hassan claims to put the people of New Hampshire first, but she's done the exact opposite by supporting tax and fee increases on families and small businesses, vetoing the budget over tax relief that would help create jobs, and trying to balance the budget by cutting funding for our seniors," said spokeswoman Liz Johnson. "Furthermore, Governor Hassan's entire campaign has been based on millions of dollars' worth of negative ads from her special interest backers who know she'll be a rubber stamp for them -- instead of standing up for New Hampshire."
