As Deborah's energetic, grassroots campaign enters the final weeks of the election with momentum on her side, the Ross campaign launched two new ads to build on Deborah's message of change from politics as usual in Washington. "Zach" highlights how Deborah listens to people and will focus on the challenges they face in today's economy. "Afraid" sets the record straight on Deborah's record of working for justice and support for survivors of sexual assault.
The ads were released shortly after a new report in the Huffington Post yesterday revealed, once again, that Burr went to Washington and looked out for himself. The report shows that Burr has accepted nearly 30 special interest-funded vacations and trips to places like Prague, Marseilles, Madrid, and Stockholm while fighting against ethics reform for Members of Congress. Burr, whose wealth grew by over 400 percent during his 20-plus years in Washington, voted seven times to raise his own pay and to cut taxes for millionaires like himself but raise taxes on working people.
Statement from Cole Leiter, Ross press secretary:
"Richard Burr has spent 20-plus years in Washington putting himself and the special interests first, not North Carolina. Voters are ready for a change from politics as usual, and Deborah is going to continue reaching every voter she can to lay out her message of change and how she'll put people first."
