Fact Check: Burr's Allies Launch More False Attacks to Keep the Special Interest Senator in Office

Senator Burr and his allies woke up to more stories calling Deborah a "formidable" challenger and highlighting Senator Burr's struggling campaign--so it's no wonder that today, they're launching more false attacks on Deborah and doing everything they can to avoid talking about Senator Burr's 20-plus years of putting himself and special interests first in Washington.

Cole Leiter, press secretary for Deborah Ross for Senate, issued the following statement:

"Senator Burr's special interest allies are right to be worried, because Deborah's message of change from politics as usual is resonating across North Carolina--and voters aren't going to be fooled by these desperate attempts to distract from Senator Burr's dismal record in Washington. Over his 20-plus years in Congress, Senator Burr found time to increase his net worth by more than 500 percent, vote against a ban on insider trading by Members of Congress while pushing legislation that would benefit his own stock portfolio, and go on nearly 30 extravagant trips funded by the same kinds of big-money special interests who are trying to bail him out with false attacks on Deborah's record--but he missed nearly 70 percent of Armed Services hearings on critical issues like military suicide, Afghanistan, and emerging threats, and still hasn't released his schedule so North Carolina knows exactly what he was doing instead. Like a classic Washington politician, he's worked for himself, but not North Carolina--and it is time our state had a Senator who put us first."
